So, for my birthday, my parents decided to buy me admission to a class at Second City! Because they are great.
But! I'm torn, I can't quite decide which I want to take. Here's how I see it:
I'm very interested in writing and acting-- more than I am in the improv? But at the same time, my improv skills need the most work, and that's kind of their big nationally-renowned thing. I plan to take pretty much all the classes I can manage in due time, but if something crazy came up I'd like to start with the most enriching experience and work my way down, just in case.

Really, any of the three sounds fantastic. I SO EXCITED!!! |

Go Sally and Jeff! That is just downright awesome of them. I went with writing, because of the three it will probably make you the most versatile.
(Sallie)
And yes! They're pretty great people.
My vote is admittedly pretty selfish.

I need to just stop giving you the option. | (Link)

I also don't particularly care for improv, but even if you have no intent on pursuing a career in improv, it'll still give you skills to help out with everything else.
Plus, despite the fact that you give the absolute worst fellatio I've ever received, you're already extremely talented in the writing and acting department. Also, you could always try and save up and take those classes later.
I say Acting, its like having a bit of writing AND Improv.
And Stephen we're Month-Birthday-Buddies! High fives? HIGHFIVES!
Amazing! How old are you, now?
Im gonna be a mean 23 on the 26th.
What about you now? 25-6?
25! I'm exactly one week younger than Erika.
EARLY BIRTHDAY PRESENT:

I'll never wash this internet cheek.
And post-birthday kisses for you too sir!
Oh man, there's no damn way I could choose, either. That said, improv is all about its own very specific rules and philosophy; while I've found them handy at times, I think the other two might be more immediately applicable.
What's the teaching situation? Because if their current class-runners are in one of the shows, you can go watch 'em and see if you'd get a kick out of hanging with them.
Good idea!
My current line of thinking is kind of thus: Improv will help make me wittier/funnier, and then maybe acting and writing will help me express that better? But you're right, I can't imagine really using what I would learn in improv. | |
