I am satisfied. |

I thought it suffered from the same things that Transmetropolitan and Midnight Nation did; they all limited themselves way too much. It's pretty obvious that there was a lot more story that Vaughan wanted to tell, I don't know why he tried to pack only what he thought was the most relevant stuff, leaving most of it feeling kinda rushed. Also, the major character death was almost entirely random and unnecessary, and the "happy ending" epilogue wasn't nearly as awesome as it should have been. Then again, I just came off the whirlwind finale of MGS4, and I'm sure Preacher pretty much spoiled me for life as far as satisfying conclusions are concerned.

I think the book got a little self-referential when someone started talking about "would any explanation have been satisfying after all we've been through?"
In the first few volumes, the main focus of the book (or at least from my perspective as a reader) was "WHY DID EVERYONE VOMIT BLOOD AND DIE" And by the end, I totally agreed with whoever said that. I didn't give a shit why, I'd just fallen in love with these characters and this world and wanted to know the end of everyone's stories.
I thought it focused just enough on the various characters, even if it left some pretty huge questions unanswered. | |
